Plendil is a powerful drug used to treat hypertension, or high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers and works by blocking calcium from entering the cells of the heart and blood vessels. This helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases.
Uses of Plendil
Plendil is used to treat hypertension in adults and children 6 years of age and older. It is also used to treat angina (chest pain) and to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with coronary artery disease.
The active ingredient in Plendil is felodipine. It is available in 2.5, 5, and 10 mg tablets.
Felodipine is also known as Feloday, Plendil, and Plendil SR.
Plendil is taken orally, usually once daily. It is important to take it with food to reduce stomach upset. The dose is determined by the doctor, based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment.
Common side effects of Plendil include headache, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. Other side effects may include constipation, diarrhea, swelling of the feet and ankles, and flushing.
